Vietnam like most of the South East Asian countries is a major ESL destination and a popular tourist spot. There are many English teaching jobs in Vietnam as this country is gradually progressing economically.

ESL jobs in Vietnam are not just limited to teaching children English but the teachers have to participate in other activities, primarily - Student counseling and Curriculum development when needed.

The teachers are paid quite well in Vietnam and generally, the range of payment is about 15 USD to 19 USD each hour.

Usually the students learning English are young children aged around seven and above. However, at times, the teachers also have to teach adults.

Native English speakers are the preferred choice as teachers but in Vietnam non-native English teachers can get ESL employment provided, they are fluent in English. TESOL or TEFL certificates are required by most of the schools. • The teachers may find their own accommodation or else the 200 USD will be deducted from the salary for providing accommodation.

• Most likely the English teachers in Vietnam will be given placements in Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.

• Teaching positions available at universities and schools. These are the first choice of ESL teachers but there are other options available as well.

• English language institutes also offer placements to ESL teachers to facilitate communicative English skills among the learners. Many students and office goers attend the language schools in the evening and there is always a shortage of trained native speakers. In other words it’s comparatively easy to land a job in Vietnam provided you are certified to teach.

• ESL teachers can also work as private tutors and focus on teaching conversational English.
