Living in United Kingdom

TESOL Certification Course in London United Kingdom

Living in London – is expensive compared to many places in the World. The cost of living will of course vary depending on individual need and condition.

One must budget and plan out the expenses one may incur in advance. There are to save costs. For convenience a cost list of accommodation and other basics of living in London is given.

In the UK one of the best to cut cost is to go for shared housing and using the excellent network of public transport.
When you rent on flat- share basis remember that the bond can be as high as 6 weeks rent and may be also a month’s rent in advance. This could be as much as £1000 depending on what the rent price is. If you live outside London you can definitely save more money as it is much cheaper there. But each to his own taste and preference; it’s finally up to you where you decide to reside.

Mobile phones are an absolute must today. It is better to go for pre-paid top up package as you can track your phone expenses easily.

Internet access is another necessity and stash away funds for cafes where you’ll use the internet to keep contact with family and employers.

Average rental on flat share per month -
In West London £280 - £430
East London £290 - £390
South London £280 - £500
North London £300 - £400

Food and grocery on average for 2 people is about £60 per week.
Average pub meal £6 -£10
Average restaurant meal £12 - £20

It makes better sense to buy grocery and fix one’s meals at home. Eating out is pretty expensive in London. Buy your crockery and cutlery from Charity Shops (op shops, or second hand shops). The stuff is decent and cheap. Makes sense to save money.

Also be on the lookout for special offers and discounts. Often cinema tickets mention about discounts at nearby restaurants, checkout shops where there‘s buy one get one free on offer.

Transportation
Weekly Zone 1-6 Travel card £41
Monthly Travel card £86
Midsize car on hire £70
Train to Cambridge £17 - £20

Traveling by bus that crisscross all over the city and the tube that runs the length and breadth of London are the best ways to travel in London. The train service is also excellent. Public transport is the best way to save money.

Entertainment Cost
London has a lot of entertainments on offer but the they don’t come cheap. It makes good sense to join the local library where you can rent dvds at cheap price and use the internet at a discount.
Movie £7-£10
West end Theatre £25+
Concerts £10+
Pubs and club entry £5 -£20

So, before you arrive at London have a clear idea of the funds you have and how best you can survive on it before you land yourself a job. Of course TEFL International will help you to seek placement in England so feel free to seek assistance after completing the in class 4 weeks TEFL certificate course in London.
