TESOL Certification Course in Florence, Italy

The TEFL market in Italy is firmly rooted and expanding. Those looking for work can find gainful employment in the country.
It is specially favorable for newly certified teachers, as many schools in the provincial towns are willing to accept teachers with relatively little teaching experience.

Many of the jobs are in rural areas and school provides transportation. It is always a good idea to check out the precise location of the school so that you know exactly what to expect.

Larger cities like Florence and Milan also offer teaching opportunities, they condition being that the teachers have some years of experience. There is good demand for Business English Teaching.

RELEVANT information
• To teach in Italy a four-year college degree in any discipline is needed.

• The ESL teachers must complete 120 hours TEFL training course.

• It is helpful to have a working knowledge of the Italian , not essential

• The candidates can anytime seek assistance for placement from TEFL International.

• On average, teachers can expect to work for 25-30 hours a week. In busy months the work load may increase.

• Salaries tend to be between 800 and 1000 euros a month.

• Mostly the school provides accommodation; rent may be taken directly out of your wages each month.

• Most contracts with private language schools will commence in September/October and run through to June or July.
In Italy, nowadays English-learning is big business and Italians are eager to pick up the language. The people are truly warm and accommodating and working in Italy will give you exposure to the various facets of Italian culture and people.

What to expect:
Teachers can expect to teach mixed age-groups and class-types. Usual students are business clients and Younger Learners category.

It is not uncommon to teach English at the local ‘scuola media’ (high school).
Teachers are sometimes expected to drive down to corporate or business houses to give lessons. It’s not an uncommon practice; it’s good to have a driving license. It will be an advantage when you are looking for work.
