People of all faiths and beliefs reside peacefully in the city.

affordable rates, of course they are mostly second hand books.
In Kolkata one can easily spend hours rummaging through the

Market.
One can visit the many shopping malls and check out for specials
and buy branded goods at huge discounts.
Transport
Kolkata is the first city to have the underground railway service
in India and it is still the best and the cleanest and less tiring
way to travel within the city.
There are bus services and Taxis. The traffic snarl is less but
still quite bad so if one is travelling from north to south Kolkata
the best mode of transport would be the subway or ‘Metro’.
Taxis run on meter but its best to carry a tariff chart. They are
easily available.

The summer months of April – June are hot, humid and sultry. The

The rainy or Monsoon season months extend from mid June to early
September and bring the much needed respite from the scorching
summer. The rainfall is heavy and roads within the city are often
water logged, the situation is better now and Kolkata hasn’t

The winter is perhaps the most pleasant season in Kolkata. From end

is the tourist season as well. The temperature never goes below 10
Celsius, it ranges between 12-27Celsius
March is spring time and still the weather is pleasant and
Kolkatans celebrate spring with the famous festival of colours HOLI.
