TESOL Certification Course in Alexandria Egypt

Alexandria, is often called the ‘Pearl of the Mediterranean’, it is the second largest city in Egypt. It has a very different culture from the rest of Egypt. In Alexandria it feels like one is in a secular and liberal Mediterranean country not in one with Middle Eastern leanings. It’s very different in atmosphere and culture from Cairo which is only225 km away.

As the very name indicates, the city along the Mediterranean coast was established by Alexander the Great in 331 BC. It was in ancient times a great seat of knowledge and culture and was the capital of Egypt under the Grecian Ptolemy rule. It exemplified Graeco-Roman culture of Egypt. The Famous lighthouse ‘Pharos’ was the beacon that would guide many ships to the port of Alexandria. Queen Cleopatra of Egypt had won the affection and loyalty of the great Roman Heroes – Julius Ceasar and his able commander Mark Anthony and enticed them with the heady Egyptian cult of deifying the ruler.

It was the mystical and deeply esoteric culture of Alexandria that seduced the rational war-hardened Roman into accepting and legitimizing Cleopatra’s claim to the throne of Egypt. Alexandria was the backdrop of the doomed love between the brave Anthony and the seductive Cleopatra. The beautiful city did not retain its days of glory for too long. It had been reduced to a tiny fishing village by the time Napoleon landed in Egypt.

Once again in the 19th century Alexandria underwent a revival as immigrants from Greece, Italy and Levant moved in and created a cosmopolitan, liberal and fancy free culture where one had no set tradition to abide by; but where anyone could make something of his life as it offered a lot of opportunities being a centre for business and commerce. It also evolved into Egypt's commercial and maritime hub. Notable writers such as E-M- Forster and Cavafy have immortalized the port city of Alexandria.

Egypt, home of the Pyramids, the mighty Nile and the Valley of Kings, provides students of the TEFL course the opportunity to learn TEFL at a fascinating place. Few countries around the world can lay claim to such a wide collection of ancient monuments and relics as Egypt.

Modern Egypt is trying to match pace with development and its major cities like Cairo and Alexandria has introduced modern infrastructure and amenities prevalent in developed countries. Outside the main cities, Egypt continues to be an agricultural society, where life has not changed too much for hundreds of years.

Alexandria is second only to Cairo in size and has more cosmopolitan atmosphere, this makes it the perfect venue for TEFL course in Egypt. It has many places of interest to explore and discover. Cairo is a couple of hours drive from Alexandria and in Cairo you can explore the Museums, markets and the Pyramids of Giza.

The location of our TEFL courses in Egypt allows students to discover ancient civilizations all in one place. In Alexandria one can see the remnants of the port in the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Doing the course at Alexandria will be the closest you can ever get to the experiencing earliest remnants of an ancient civilization.
