TESOL Certification Course in Shanghai, China
One of the most ancient civilizations in the world,
China has been the exotic orient for the western world. Formerly
known as the ‘forbidden’ country it has opened its door to a
culture that is ancient but also keeping pace with the modern where
1.2 billion people call home, with bustling markets, huge cities
and surprising open spaces.
“China isn't a country - it's a different world. Unless you have a
couple of years and unlimited patience, it's best to follow a loose
itinerary here, such as following the Silk Road, sailing down the
Yangzi River, or exploring the Dr Seuss landscape of Guangxi
Province. From shop-till-you-drop metropolises to the desert
landscapes of Xinjiang, China is a land of cultural and geographic
schisms. It's not that it has completely done away with its Maoist
past - it's more that the yin of revolutionary zeal is being
balanced by the yang of economic pragmatism”.
What is the attraction
Hangzhou is the capital city of Zhejiang province in China. Famous
for its picturesque scenery and rich history, Hangzhou has always
been among the top tourism sites in China. It is only about 120
miles away from Shanghai, which is the largest economic and trade
centre in the country and a comprehensive industrial base, as well
as a famous historical and cultural city. There are numerous ways
to travel to Shanghai from Hangzhou. If you would like to
experience the high-speed express train between shanghai and
Hangzhou, It only takes 80 minutes and costs about 10USD.
The West Lake is undoubtedly the most renowned feature of Hangzhou,
noted for the scenic beauty that blends naturally with many famous
historical and cultural sites. In this scenic area, Solitary Hill,
the Mausoleum of General Yue Fei, the Six Harmonies Pagoda and the
Ling Yin Temple are probably the most frequently visited
attractions. The "Ten West Lake Prospects" have been specially
selected to give the visitor outstanding views of the lake,
mountains and monuments.
A number of national museums can be found in Hangzhou and are
representative of Chinese culture. Fine examples are the National
Silk Museum and National Tea Museum. Along with the other museums
in Hangzhou, they provide a fascinating insight into the history of
Chinese traditional products.
Hangzhou dishes are noted for their elaborate preparation,
sophisticated cooking and refreshing taste. Beggar's Chicken (a
chicken baked in clay), West Lake Fish in Sweet Sour Source
(vinegar coated fish fresh caught from the lake), Dongpo Pork
(braised pork) and Fried Shrimps with Longjing Tea are well-known.
The shopping environment in Hangzhou is exciting and convenient
too. At night Hangzhou has much to offer and teahouses and various
kinds of pubs are both plentiful and popular. If you have ever
heard of an old Chinese saying about Hangzhou and Suzhou. "Heaven
above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below", you may like to check it out
too, the amazing Garden City---Suzhou. It takes about less than 2
hrs by bus to get there from Hangzhou, and costs 10USD.
